River - The Lifeline of Forest

The Cliffs of kalakhand shares 3 km long boundary with Ramganaga River which is the lifeline to various forms of wildlife in the area. Don’t be surprised if you spot animals on the river including the Big games of Corbett national park. Elephants, Tigers, pallas's fish eagle, otters, kingfishers, sambar and spotted deer are few species which are commonly spotted on the river bank.

So Grab a pair of Binoculars and spend some time in the balcony of the bungalow overlooking Ramganga River and you will definitely be pleasantly surprised.

Night Life In a Forest

The forest at Night is a different place than what you observe in the day time. Most creatures become active and Nocturnal species also start coming out of their shelters.

To feel the thrill of forest at night, we have created provision of observation deck from where you can watch the activities of the forest at night. Technology comes handy to enhance our vision at night.

Birding hide at Kalakhand

For those who are interested in bird photography, we have one of the most natural looking birding hide at kalakhand. A small natural waterfall has been converted into birding hide which is frequented by huge number of bird species including the rare himalayan species.

Everyday 2 sessions (morning and evening) are conducted at the birding hide with naturalist.

Hide remains open throughout the day in case one wants to stay longer.

The Trail Finder

At kalakhand, it is a day to day activity to keep a track on animal movement and the trails used by them. Generally the padding technique and trail cameras are used to understand the movement of animals. It is quite and interesting exercise for the guests staying at kalakhand where everyday is different and brings new surprises in the cameras or pads.

The whole activity is guided, led by our naturalist for safety of guests.

Birding Walks at Kalakhand

Kalakhand is a heaven for bird watchers and over 400 species of birds have been recorded at kalakhand including resident and migratory birds.

Guided Birding walks in the morning and evenings is a must for bird watchers.

Many rare hamalayan species of birds can be seen during these walks.

The Hide Experience

The best way to observe and photograph animals in their natural habitat displaying their uninterrupted behavior is to get into a hide and spot them.

The mammal Hide in kalakhand is just perfect for the task. The hide is frequented by all the mammals including elephants, leopards and tigers. Being in the hide is crazy forest experience yet safe way to observe natural behavior of animals.
